Which phones can play Hearthwick?
Android phones and tablets running Android 10 or newer (API level 29 and up). There is no iPhone or iPad version yet.
Where is my game saved? Does it need an account?
Your game, journal, dream log and notes are saved in the app's private storage on your phone. There is no account and no sign-in, and no ads. Nothing you write is sent anywhere.
Does Hearthwick collect any data?
No. Hearthwick has no internet permission and sends nothing anywhere: no stats, no identifiers, nothing you write. If your phone backs up to your Google account, Android can include your saved game in that backup (see below); that copy belongs to your Google account and we never receive it. The details are in the privacy policy.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Lessons, meditations, soundscapes and the stories all play without a connection. Hearthwick never goes online.
Daily reminders and notifications
Reminders are off until you turn them on in Settings, where you also choose the time. Android then asks for permission to show notifications. You get at most one gentle reminder a day, when new lessons arrive, and reminders come back on their own after your phone restarts.
To stop them, turn the reminder off in Settings, or turn off notifications for Hearthwick in Android's settings (Settings > Apps > Hearthwick > Notifications). If a reminder doesn't arrive, check that notifications are allowed for Hearthwick and that battery saving isn't stopping the app.
Backups and moving to a new phone
If backup to your Google account is on for your phone, Android backs up your saved game (only the save file and its safety copy) and restores it when you set up a new phone with the same account. To be safe, or to move your game another way, make your own backup too:
- Save a backup file opens Android's share sheet, so you can keep the file in your own files, your drive or an email to yourself.
- Copy a backup code copies a code you can paste somewhere safe.
- On the new phone, restore by picking the backup file or pasting the code.
A backup holds everything, including your journal, dream log and notes, so anyone who has it can read them. Keep it private.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings and choose "Delete all my data". This removes your game, journal and notes, the safety copy of your save, backup and grimoire files saved in Hearthwick, and scheduled reminders. It can't be undone. Clearing the app's storage in Android's settings, or uninstalling, also removes everything on the phone. A copy of your saved game in your Google account's backup can be deleted in your Google account.
Text size, motion and colours
Settings has larger text sizes, reduced motion, and light or dark colours. A spoken guide can read the meditations aloud using your phone's built-in voice.
Is it free? Is there anything to buy?
There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
Is tarot or herb lore in the game advice?
No. Tarot, astrology, crystals, runes, numerology and folk herb lore are shared as tradition, symbolism and tools for reflection. They are not predictions, and nothing in Hearthwick is medical advice. Herb pages carry safety notes and suggest asking a doctor first.
When can I get it?
Hearthwick is in private testing on Android. To try it, ask to join the private test.
